Looking for a Leprechaun!
(To the tune of "Going on a Bear Hunt")

I’m looking for a Leprechaun
To get his pot of gold!
Let's go!

Oh, look! He’s in a grassy field.
Can't go around it. Can't go under it. Can't go over it. Let's go through it.
Swish, swish, swish.

I’m looking for a Leprechaun
To get his pot of gold!
Let's go!

Oh, look! He’s in a giant tree.
Can't go over it. Can't go under it. Can't go through it. Let's climb up it.
Climb, climb, climb.

I’m looking for a Leprechaun
To get his pot of gold!
Let's go!

Oh, look! He’s near the river.
Can't go over it. Can't go around it. Can't go under it. Let's Swim through it.
Swim, swim, swim.

I’m looking for a Leprechaun
To get his pot of gold!
Let's go!

Oh, look! He’s in the dark cave.
Can't go around it. Can't go under it. Can't go over it. Let's tiptoe into it.
Tippy, tippy, toe.

I’m looking for a Leprechaun
To get his pot of gold!
Let's go!

It's really dark in here. Better turn on my flashlight.
Oh, no! There he goes! Gotta Catch Him! Let's go!
Run! Run! Swim! Swim! Climb! Climb! Swish! Swish!
Hey! Where did he go??

CRAFTS

LEPRECHAUN LADDER

  • Print out eight small shamrocks and color them green.
  • Cut out the shamrocks and punch a hole in the middle of each one.
  • Take an 18" piece of green or white yarn and tie a knot on one end.
  • Slide one shamrock onto the yarn, down to the knot.
  • Tie another knot up about 2" and slide on another shamrock.
  • Continue until all of the shamrocks are on the string, or until you run out of string.
  • Hang up your Leprechaun Ladder.
  • Tell Children that Leprechauns like to climb ladders in during the night.
  • Leave the ladders hanging up, and one night sprinkle some gold glitter on the shamrocks!

MARBLE PAINTING

  • Cut out a clover shape on white construction paper.
  • Place it in an aluminum pan or copy paper box lid.
  • Put several small spots of paint in each corner about the size of a half dollar. You can use light green, dark green, gold and yellow individually or combined.
  • Place the marble in the center of the clover and allow the child to tilt the pan so the marble goes through the paint spots across the paper.
  • Sprinkle with gold glitter when done!
  • Try different sized balls (ping pong, golf, etc) to see the different patterns!

MAGIC SHAMROCKS

  • Take shamrock patterns (Xeroxed on green construction paper)
  • Have children spread a thin layer of glue on one side.
  • Sprinkle green glitter over the glue & let dry.
  • Glue shamrocks to Popsicle/craft sticks & let dry.
  • Cut a small slit in the bottom of an upside-down child's size drinking cup.
  • Insert the Popsicle sticks firmly in bottom of the cup so that the shamrock is "planted" in the cup.
  • Voila!! Your class has "Glittering, Magic Shamrocks!"

SHAMROCK STAMPING

  • Cut a green pepper in half (through the middle w/the stem on top).
  • Use the two halves to dip in green paint to create four clovers
  • Add a stem!
